Americans can not stop the nuclear program North Korea

WASHINGTON - The director of national intelligence the United States (US), James Clapper said the United States (US) should be the focus in terms of limiting the nuclear capabilities of North Korea (North Korea). According to him, to convince North Korea to halt nuclear development is futile.

"I think the idea for the denuclearization of North Korea is futile. They will not do it because it is their ticket to survival," he said before the Council on Foreign Relations, as quoted from Sputniknews, Thursday (10/27/2016).

Clapper went on to describe his trip to North Korea in 2014 and then to secure the release of two US citizens. He gave ratings of 'good taste' on nuclear development from the perspective of the country.

"They are under siege and they are very paranoid, so the idea to give up developing nuclear capabilities, whatever it is, is not possible, but they will not do it just because we asked for them. There is some persuasion to be significant," he said.

Clapper also said if Pyongyang not to test an intercontinental ballistic missile KN-08 so that the utility can not be known. The ballistic missile believed capable of attacking the United States. He also suggested to Washington did not wait until the North Korean missile test.

"Nevertheless, we consider the ability to launch missiles that North Korea has the ability to reach US territory, of course including Alaska and Hawaii, we have to assume they are capable of. We have to make the assumption of the worst here," he said.

In response, State Department spokesman John Kirby said he was not too confusing comment Clapper and the US still hope to continue negotiations stalled disarmament assistance since 2009.

"We continue to see a diversified, the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. We want to see a return to six-party talks process, and that means we need to look at North Korea's demonstrated willingness and ability to return to their process is not finished," he said.
