Nicolas Maduro and Opposition Meet, To Deepen Situation

CARACAS - Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, are expected to sit at the table with the opposition groups with foreign parties as mediator. This attitude is considered as a ploy to waste time to reduce the pressure on Maduro.

Maduro said he would personally attend the meeting, while the general secretary of a coalition of Jesus Torrealba will represent nearly 30 different political organizations. Present at the meeting of the Vatican envoy, representative of the regional bloc Unasur and three former heads of state of Spain, Panama and the Dominican Republic as quoted by the Washington Post, Monday (10/31/2016).

A number of opposition leaders who refused to attend the talks said that Maduro had become a dictator who only promote dialogue to defend himself.

"Everyone knows that President Nicolas Maduro and his regime typically uses dialogue as a mechanism to avoid constitutional responsibilities and a waste of time," said the 15-party coalition in a letter urging Torrealba use the meeting to negotiate gnats Maduro stepped down this year.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez said Maduro left the Ibero-American summit in Colombia to prepare to attend the meeting.
